My cat has a lump that popped. Can cat breast cancer rupture?

Pet's info: Cat | Colorpoint Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 10 lbs

My cat had a lump/s and two vets said it might be breast cancer. The lump has grown and popped. And then i was confused, because i didn't think cancer can pop. I visited another vet and he said it is an erupt tumor. This guy was just telling me how long he jas been a doctor, and when i would tell him i need time to think about a decision, he kept asking me, and asking me. He also was trying to give me an incentive to do it right away. I feel like i was on a game show. I need some more insight?

Poor Kitty! Mammary tumors can grow and rupture, so it is possible that she has a mammy tumor that has burst through the skin. It is important to make a decision quickly about treatment with mammary tumors in cats, as 90% of these tumors are malignant with rapid spread to nearby lymph nodes and mammary glands. The sooner she receives treatment if she has mammary cancer, the better for her. I would recommend making a decision as soon as possible regarding treatment for Kitty.

I'm wondering if your cat is spayed or not. If your cat isn't spayed, she could have a mammary tumor. In cats, 90% of these are malignant. She does have to see a vet for this problem, as a malignant tumor could also be causing her to vomit. Please take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

My cat has a hard, infected breast lump. Is it breast cancer?

I am sorry to hear about Patches. Unfortunately she has a problem we aren't going to be able to treat at home here. I would be concerned about the possibility of breast cancer given her history (being spayed as an adult, location of the mass). A vet exam is needed to examine the area, determine if it is a breast tumor, prescribe antibiotics if it is infected and discuss surgery. Cats, that have not been spayed, are very prone to developing mammary tumors. The majority of these tumors are unfortunately cancerous. My old cat has a purple lump near her nipple. Is it mammary cancer?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Tashi! If the mass is associated with a nipple it is likely a mass in the mammary gland. Sadly about 85% of masses in cat mammary glands tend to be cancerous. I highly recommend a vet visit so they can examine Tashi. You the can discuss removing the mass for biopsy. Poor Jaffacake! I am very concerned she may have mammary tumors which are often cancer, and potentially an infectious cat disease causing her breathing issues. If at all possible she really needs a full examination by a vet, blood work to evaluate her internal organ status, and testing for infectious diseases. Why does my cat have a hard lump with an open sore on her belly?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This is likely from her mammary gland. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. I recommend you have Dahlia evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!
