My cat has lumps under her nipple. Should I take her to the vet now?

I have noticed my cat has got 2 lumps under her nipple would i need to book her an appointment at the vets ?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Princess. Yes, I would make an appointment for her to see her veterinarian right away. Cats, that have not been spayed, are very prone to developing mammary tumors. The majority of these tumors are unfortunately cancerous. If this appears to be the case, her veterinarian may recommend some testing or discuss surgery with you. I hope this information helps!

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Cats certainly can develop mammary cancer, & that is a suspicion with any lumps near the nipples. If you can have her seen before Saturday, then that would be great, just in case Missy needs to be on antibiotics. But I also would not be terribly concerned if you kept the Saturday appointment. That is still plenty of time to address the things if something needs to be done. Call your vet & explain that the lumps are getting larger quicker & hopefully they will get Missy in sooner, & you can see what is going on with her. Take care.

I see what you mean about Pepper's nipple, it is a big redder around the base and more enlarged than the nipple in the third picture. What I am a bit worried about is the small lump, and due to that, yes I think it should be checked out by a vet to be safe. I don't think it's a serious issue, but I cannot say that for sure without seeing her, so having it checked out by a vet is best. Give her vet a call now to make her an appointment. I'm wondering if your cat is spayed or not. If your cat isn't spayed, she could have a mammary tumor. In cats, 90% of these are malignant. She does have to see a vet for this problem, as a malignant tumor could also be causing her to vomit. Please take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

Why does my unspayed female kitten have lumps under her nipples?

My guess is that it is just hormone related hyperplasia. The other option is mastitis - it may be just starting. I would just keep an eye on it since she is acting otherwise normal. If after a couple weeks they lumps are still present you should have her examined by your vet. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

The sooner these get checked and then removed if needed, the better the outcome. Found a lump under my 4-month-old kitten's nipple. Should I worry?

A lump in such a young cat could be an infection, a small wound, an insect bite, a lymph node, or waaay less likely, a mass. If she's going to a full-service veterinarian tonight they can definitely give you a good idea of what's going on. If you're going to a vaccine clinic, they'll be more limited in what they can do but can still give you a good idea if it's something normal or concerning. Between now and then, just leave the bump alone so that doesn't get bigger from being messed with. Don't try to clean it or pop it or remove it in anyway. Good luck to you and Kitty!

My old cat has a purple lump near her nipple. Is it mammary cancer?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Tashi! If the mass is associated with a nipple it is likely a mass in the mammary gland. Sadly about 85% of masses in cat mammary glands tend to be cancerous. I highly recommend a vet visit so they can examine Tashi. You the can discuss removing the mass for biopsy.
