My pet has a bleeding neck growth. How do I clean and care for it?

You can clean it with soap and water and apply Neosporin to help with the bleeding and discharge. There are no other options at home. Your vet can examine it and discussed surgery options to remove it so you do not have to worry about further episodes of scratching or bleeding. I would recommend this is able since it is growing

I would recommend that you have Lumpy checked out by a vet. It looks like it may be infected. The hair will need to be clipped away from the mass and the wound. Even if it is benign, masses don't heal very well since they are not normal tissue, so it may need to be removed so that it stops bleeding and will not continue to be a source for infection.

From what I can see in the photos, this doesn't look too bad at all - but if it's been bleeding a bit, it's always a good idea to have it checked by your vet to make sure everything is okay. Until then, you can have Cezare wear a baby onesie or something similar to help protect it, especially if he has been scratching at it or attempting to lick it. it's also fine if you want to clean it with some Betadine solution, or apply a small amount of topical Neosporin to the area. Other than that, I would just leave it alone until your veterinarian can take a look.

You can continue disinfection at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths twice daily for the next 4 days. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. It is best not bandage as the healing will be much quicker. If the lesion do not resolve in 4 days time a check up will be needed as antibiotics may be required. Clean the area with hydrogen peroxide and put pressure on it with a cloth or towel until the bleeding stops. Once there is a scab leave it alone since if you clean off the scab it will bleed again. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Misty.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If the sores are getting bigger I would recommend having Gotti seem by a veterinarian. It appears that he may have a skin infection. Keep the lesions clean and dry until then, but he may need some antibiotics. You can use a mild antiseptic shampoo to clean the lesions but be sure to rinse well.

Flushing it with peroxide once, just keep it out of his eyes, and keeping it clean for today is the best you can do. You can apply some Neosporin on it to help keep dirt out of it and make sure he doesn't scratch it. It will be fine until the morning for your appointment
