Why are my dog's head and neck sores getting bigger and bleeding?

Keep the sore clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

This looks like an injury that has some infection with it. I recommend cleaning the area with a warm damp cloth and massaging it to get any infection draining out. You can then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. If it isn’t improving, your dog seems sick or lethargic then certainly bring him in right away for a veterinary exam and treatment. Hi. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would recommend taking Gizmo to the vet to have this sore assessed. It may be an eosinophilic granuloma which is an immune reaction to a possible allergen. Or it could be a bite wound or other irritation. If it is getting bigger he needs to be seen before it spreads more. Gizmo is a handsome fella. I hope he's better soon.

Hello. Any chronic lesion should be investigated by your veterinarian. This looks like some kind of abscess or perhaps even a foreign body under the skin. He is a bit young for a cancer, but young dogs can get benign growths. In the meantime, gently clean the area with an antibacterial skin wash such as Hibiclens ( available at any pharmacy ), but if it does not dry up soon, I would like you to have Cammo examined by your veterinarian. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Given his age, the most likely problem is something such as an infection from a penetrating foreign body. There could be something still stuck below his skin if this is the case. Other possibilities include a bot fly larva or even a tumor of some kind. Hello, and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This looks likely to be a cyst, which is a benign skin growth that can rupture and exude a thick proteinaceous discharge. I recommend having Roscoe seen by a Vet, as cysts can become infected when they rupture, and Roscoe may need a course of antibiotics. Your vet can then let you know if they have any concerns about the lesion when they’re able to examine it. In the meantime, keep it clean using soapy water (Dawn dish soap works well) and soak/wipe it clean a few times daily. Hope this helps!
