Cat bleeding after fight, no emergency vet. Can it wait until morning?

My goodness! So sorry to hear that TIgger has had all these issues. I do think it can wait til your vet visit in the morning but if the wound is bleeding I would recommend you try to cover it. Use a non-stick pad over the bleeding area and then LIGHTLY roll some gauze over that pad and then tape it with medical tape. DO NOT USE DUCT TAPE and please, please make sure you don't make the bandage too tight! Do not place neosporin or any other ointments on the wound. One other option is to cover the wound with a non-stick pad and then, if possible, cover the leg with a baby sock and tape the top of the sock to his leg (DO NOT USE A RUBBER BAND)! Be advised that many cats don't like things on them so he may rip the bandage/sock off. If he does that then you may need to take him to the vet sooner. If you have a "cone" for him then I would definitely advise you put that on him until the visit with the vet and, of course, keep him indoors so you can monitor him! I hope this helps. Hello, if you have only noted a single blood clot, then this can wait to see her veterinarian in the morning. If she develops active bleeding, diarrhea, vomiting, or decreased appetite overnight then you should see your ER veterinarian tonight. Hope this helps and best of luck.

However, the best thing you can do is to keep him as quiet as possible for now until you can have him evaluated by a veterinarian. He likely has trauma in multiple places which is why he is so responsive to the touch. Often times after fights they have injuries beyond what you can see from the outside. They would be able to check the extent of the injuries and recommend the best course of action but for now, I recommend that you rest him as much as possible and keep an eye on him to make sure he is ok. If the laceration is through the skin, then Snowball should be seen tonight if possible. The sooner the wound is treated or sutured, the greater the chance for it to heal normally. Additionally, an open wound is a potential source for infection. If you absolutely cannot have her seen tonight, place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent licking or scratching and have her seen first thing in the morning. If there is active bleeding or discomfort, have her seen sooner.

As long as it is not actively bleeding and he is not in distress or showing signs of severe infection (weight loss, smell from wound, poor appetite), tomorrow should be ok. I would not wash the wound until you can have it assessed by a vet as ear wounds are notorious for bleeding and being difficult to stop so I would not attempt to dislodge any clot which has formed.

He's likely had a traumatic several weeks! Put him in a dark quiet room with his food, water, and litterbox, and minimize his stress. However, he should be seen by the vet as soon as possible - I'm concerned he may be fighting an abscess (infection) and may require antibiotics to get better. Hope this helps!

I am so sorry Cotton got hurt. I would recommend bringing Cotton to an emergency veterinarian if there is one in your area. The wound needs to be clipped and cleaned out. It also may also need to be sutured. The veterinarian can also give Cotton pain medication and antibiotics. I would recommend getting an elizabethan collar so that Cotton cannot lick at the wound. The antiseptic wipes may sting so just some saline to clean it for now until you can get Cotton to a veterinarian. If you cannot go tonight I would recommend first thing in the morning.
