My cat came home injured from a fight. What to do before the vet?

However, the best thing you can do is to keep him as quiet as possible for now until you can have him evaluated by a veterinarian. He likely has trauma in multiple places which is why he is so responsive to the touch. Often times after fights they have injuries beyond what you can see from the outside. They would be able to check the extent of the injuries and recommend the best course of action but for now, I recommend that you rest him as much as possible and keep an eye on him to make sure he is ok. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cats are miraculous healers. The leg could just be sore. I would worry about an abscess forming from the bite. Abscesses required opening them up and antibiotics. The only thing you can do is clean the wounds twice daily with warm water and a mild soap and warm compress the wounds after each cleaning for the next 3-5 days. I wish you the best!

I'm sorry to hear that your cats are not getting along. That can be very frustrating. You may want to try adding ia pheromone diffuser, like Feliway, to your home because these can help ease some of your cat's anxiety. You may also want to consider talking to your vet about getting your more aggressive cat on anxiety medication. This may help make things easier between the cats so you don't have to worry about them fighting all the time. As far as taking care of Winston, keep a close eye on him for now. Make sure he is continuing to eat and drink. And also, it goes without saying, keep him separated from the other cat. Look for any lumps or swelling that could indicate an abscess forming. If Winston stops eating, becomes lethargic, or you noticed a swelling, then you should definitely take him to the vet. I hope this helps. The wound doesn't look infected or Bloody more like a scrape that has removed hair. I would simply keep him warm and comfortable until you get to the vets. Try and feed little and often as they can over indulge when they gave been away a while.

Poor Luna! Gently clean them with warm water and antiseptic soap. Put her into own room where the dog has no access at all, and make sure she has a litter box and water in there. Hold off on food tonight in case the vet needs to sedate her to treat her wounds. Make her a bed to be comfortable in, and do NOT let her outside. Definitely have her seen by a vet in the morning. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your cat. I would call around to find the closest vet in your country to take him into as he really does need veterinary treatment for it. You can gently clean the area with warm water and antiseptic soap, and I would put a bandage over it to keep it clean and dry. Do not allow Naqsha to go outside if he's allowed outside, and I would put an Ecollar on him to keep him from licking at it. I can give you a link on how to make one at home. I am very concerned that this could get infected, and he likely needs antibiotics to treat it but you need to see a vet to get them. She most likely has an infection and it can develop, if it has not already into an abscess. I would recommend trying to find an emergency veterinarian if you can. She most likely needs antibiotics.
