My cat ate raw mashed potatoes. Are they safe for my cat to eat?

There are no toxicity concerns with sweet potatoes in cats, With any new food, some animals that may have a sensitive digestive tract may have GI upset including diarrhea and vomiting. With this small of an ingestion I think it unlikely but would monitor for these signs and if they persist seek veterinary care.

No worries. Potatoes and the skin are not toxic to pets, even raw. Maddie should be just fine. At the worse she may have a little upset stomach, in which case you can give her some bland chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days and she should be back to normal in no time. Hello, Pilot should be fine as long as the potato wasn't moldy. Some molds may cause disorientation, seizures, and heart arrhythmias but this is most commonly seen in large animals. The potato may also cause some GI signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, or vomiting. If you note any of the above then have him evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. It doesn't look like he ingested much so he will probably be fine. Just be aware though that raw potatoes are toxic to dogs. Potatoes belong to the nightshade family of vegetables, and contain solanine, a compound that is toxic to some dogs.

I recommend keeping table foods to 10% or less of the diet. All the foods you listed are not toxic and could be offered: onion, garlic, and fatty foods would be the main ones to avoid. I don’t think supplementing with KMR would be necessary for your other cat - you would be better off offering canned cat food mixed with water as it is nutritionally complete for an adult. While petroleum jelly would be okay you may have difficulty getting your cats to eat it.

A small chip will likely not result in anything more than some minor gastrointestinal upset, if any. GI upset, with no other symptoms can usually be managed at home with a 24 hour fast followed by a bland diet until symptoms resolve. Always keep human foods out of reach and limit table scraps to occasional small tidbits, if at all.
