My cats ate chocolate whipped cream. Is it dangerous for my cats?

The amount of chocolate in these ice creams are pretty slim, so if he just licked a little bit he should be fine. He might throw up a little and may have some diarrhea later.

Hello, and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The main concern in chocolate is the cocoa itself, and there is very little cocoa in white chocolate. I don't see in your profile what type of pet you have, but if it's a dog or cat they will likely be fine. Watch for signs of GI upset, as that can happen with any kind of new food (especially with higher fat content) but I suspect they'll be fine. However, I would recommend sticking with healthier treats to share with your pet and keeping ice cream and chocolate for yourself :-) Hope this helps!

I think Mirz will likely be fine. The most toxic chocolate is the unsweetened baker's chocolate. Milk chocolate and white chocolate are the least toxic. It doesn't sound like she got enough to make her sick based on what you said above. I recommend you just monitor her closely for any abnormal behavior or symptoms. That was naughty of Nyx to eat the ice cream! I would first check the ingredients of the ice cream. If it doesn't contain a large amount of real chocolate or dark chocolate (as opposed to milk chocolate), there may not be enough chocolate in the ice cream to cause problems. If it does contain large amounts of chocolate or dark chocolate, rush her into a vet immediately. I would monitor her for signs of chocolate toxicity to be safe which include rapid and/or labored breathing, hyperactivity, rapid heart rate, tremors, seizures, vomiting, diarrhea, and general symptoms of illness like decreased appetite and/or lethargy. Rarely will cats eat enough chocolate to become toxic. Milk chocolate with the Rice Krispies should be ok. It’s the dark baking chocolate that is the most toxic and cats are quite fussy, unlike dogs, and they won’t eat as much. Keep an eye on him. Signs of toxicity starts with agitation. If he should start acting abnormally excited then you may want to have him checked at your emergency clinic. Do not try to have him vomit as that may cause more medical issues than the chocolate. A very small section shouldn't cause any problems, but keep an eye on her for the next 24 hours. If you see any concerning signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, increased heart rate, or restlessness, have her seen by a vet immediately.

Cats break these chemicals down much slower then we do. When given, these chemicals can negatively affect the central nervous system as well as the cardiovascular system. Here is a list of potential side effects of consuming chocolate in cats: Tachycardia and arrythmias Vomiting Diarrhea Seizures Tremors Lethargy Death Not to mention, the fat and sugar in chocolate can cause pancreatitis.
