My cat ate chocolate coffee beans. What should I do right away?

I wouldn’t be concerned about 2 coffee beans in a medium sized dog. She may be a little hyperactive for a few hours, but I don’t think there will be any other effects. I would not continue to induce vomiting.

Symptoms of caffeine toxicity can start to occur at 15mg of caffeine per kg of body weight. For a 10lb cat, this places Cleo right at the 15mg per kg dosage. At this point, I would monitor her at home very closely. If Cleo begins showing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, hyperactivity, restlessness, increased urination, tremors, seizures, panting, or heavy breathing, please take Cleo to an emergency veterinary clinic right away. Great question! Dark chocolate is unfortunately the most toxic type of chocolate, meaning it takes the smallest amount of it to cause toxic symptoms. Without knowing exactly how much of the cake was made up of dark chocolate, it can't say if Wolf will be ok or not. Because chocolate toxicity can cause death if enough is ingested, my recommendation is to take him into a vet now. The vet can induce vomiting with a shot, and can do decontamination procedures to prevent any toxicity from occurring. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Your kitty should be just fine! You are a great pet parent to be worried, but there is not that much chocolate in that type of cocoa. He could have loose stool from the sugar and milk, but that's it. If they have a lot of actual cocoa or chocolate, the symptoms come on pretty quickly... like minutes to an hour. Your kitty should be ok.

Cats break these chemicals down much slower then we do. When given, these chemicals can negatively affect the central nervous system as well as the cardiovascular system. Here is a list of potential side effects of consuming chocolate in cats: Tachycardia and arrythmias Vomiting Diarrhea Seizures Tremors Lethargy Death Not to mention, the fat and sugar in chocolate can cause pancreatitis. I think Mirz will likely be fine. The most toxic chocolate is the unsweetened baker's chocolate. Milk chocolate and white chocolate are the least toxic. It doesn't sound like she got enough to make her sick based on what you said above. I recommend you just monitor her closely for any abnormal behavior or symptoms.
