My cat ate bubble wrap and is vomiting. Should I take him to the vet?

If he ate the balloon two weeks ago and is now vomiting than he should be examined by a vet right away. There is a chance the balloon is causing an obstruction and your vet can take an x-ray to determine the cause. If he has an obstruction, he will need surgery to remove the balloon.

Oh no it's not good that Kitty ate that vomit! At most, I would expect that eating this vomit could cause some GI upset, causing her to vomit and/or have diarrhea. It's good that it doesn't look like she has eaten the plastic bag, and if she ate the bag, I would be concerned that the bag could cause a foreign body obstruction. Keep an eye on her for now, and if you see any vomiting or diarrhea, I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps her. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. The vomiting could be from residual irritation from the ribbon or there could be more ribbon that is causing an obstruction. It is also possible it is completely unrelated to the ribbon in general: intestinal parasites, hair ball, ate something else gross (plant, etc), pancreatitis, food allergy/intolerance, reaction to a new food/treat/table food. You can continue to watch him but if he continues to vomit or stops eating that is an emergency and he needs to see a vet for an exam and an X-ray to check for a blockage. I wish you the best!

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do back home and he needs to be seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible as this type of foreign body can cause chronic inflammation and sit down in the gastrointestinal system for long time if not removed appropriately. If it has only been twice and this last time was only a small amount, then I would likely wait and see. If there is any further vomiting through the night then I recommend taking him in tomorrow. Our pets are very talented at eating things they are not supposed to without us knowing about it, so I never take for granted the possibility. There are many reasons for vomiting, and if it resolves on its own, then nothing further is necessary.

This should not lead to any severe intoxication or noticeable side effect. Possibly an episode or vomiting or diarrhoea may occur but they should be all self limiting and resolving. I would recommend to monitor her for the next 12hours but no further actions are needed at this stage.

Since your cat has a history of ingesting a foreign body and has been vomiting so frequently I would be concerned. I would recommend taking him in to the vet to be examined and have X-rays performed to rule out a potential intestinal blockage. If a blockage is present emergency surgery may be needed.
