My cat ate a balloon weeks ago and is vomiting. Should I see a vet?

The balloon isn't sharp, so it wouldn't have cut her esophagus, but it likely caused some irritation. Just keep an eye on her, and if she has vomiting, diarrhea, blood in her feces, blood in her vomit, anorexia, or lethargy, then I would be worried and have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Hello. Pancakes should be able to pass this as it is pretty small & pliable. If it has been more than a few hours since she ate the balloon, it is possible it has already passed out of the stomach into the intestines. I have seen cases where kitties have vomited up strange things a week later. Just watch her over the next 5-7 days for a loss of appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, & protrusion of the third eyelids. These are the tissues in the inner corner of each eye & when you can see them covering at least half the eyes, it is a clear indication that Pancakes does not feel well. Take Jorge into a vet immediately. If he ate this balloon string, it could be that it's causing an obstruction leading to him not eating and vomiting. An obstruction is fatal without treatment, so he has to see a vet now. Best of luck.

Hello, sorry to hear about your kitty. He could be vomiting from irritation caused by the bubble wrap. Alternatively, your kitten may have gotten into something else that you did not note. You should bring him to a veterinarian if he vomits more than 3-4 times in a day, if he becomes lethargic, or he loses his appetite. Otherwise, he may get over this on his own within a few days. Once he threw up the balloon and the entire length of string, he should be fine. The offending foreign body has left his gastrointestinal system. However you should really check your house for any more items like that including string, as a linear foreign body (string causing an intestinal blockage) is a serious problem and would need surgery to remove. So since your kitty regurgitated the entire string and balloon he should be okay.

Unfortunately that could definitively cause gastrointestinal inflammation and obstruction, which may be completed. It is very likely that the signs you described are due to this foreign body. A check up and some form of imaging (radiographs or better ultrasound) are definitively needed to confirm my clinical suspicion and treat appropriately. This is very concerning and very abnormal. Vomiting in cats can be caused by primary issues with the gastrointestinal tract, dysfunction of the organs, infection, intolerance to a diet, etc. Either way, this is very concerning and KitKat should be seen by a veterinarian ASAP for examination and potential diagnostics.
