Why is my cat acting strange with a bad eye after being spayed?

I would be concerned that Poppy has a serious ear infection. This could cause her to cry in pain, pace due to being uncomfortable, and potentially roll around trying to rub her ear on the ground due to it being itchy. Please keep in mind that without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain, but it does sound like she is very uncomfortable. The best thing to do for her is get her into a vet a soon as possible for an exam and treatment. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Yes definitely take Binx into the vet. It sounds like she may have an upper respiratory infection and the eye discharge indicates an eye infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take her into the vet first thing in the morning.

It sounds like poor little Dove may have a respiratory infection, and she could have an eye infection again. I would take her into the vet tomorrow. The vet can diagnose if she does have a respiratory infection and an eye infection, and can treat her for it. While there, have the vet check out that hard spot around her incision. It could simply be a local tissue reaction to the internal sutures, but it's best to have it checked out by to be safe. I hope this helps!

Hello. Jinger's incision looks great, so this is an upper respiratory infection that was probably incubating in her & has now hit. Call your vet tomorrow to see if any medication is necessary, but most of these respiratory infections will last 10-14 days regardless of medication. The important thing is she is still eating & drinking, & as long as she is, she should recover just fine. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Sparky. Horner's syndrome is not a common side effect from anesthesia and it does not frequently happen in young animals. She would need to see her veterinarian to know for sure though. She could have an eye infection or even an ulcer (scratch across the surface of the eye). Anesthesia does dry out the eyes making them more prone to ulcers. It would be a good idea for her to see her veterinarian again if possible as she may need medication. More then likely she is having a flare up of an upper respiratory virus with the stress of surgery. Most cats are exposed to these viruses, such as cat herpes, and stress can elicit a flare up. Sneezing, runny eyes/nose, congestion, etc. are common. If there is any discoloration to any discharge, cough, or she is not eating well a recheck with your vet is indicated. It can be normal. Elsa is likely pretty sore from the surgery as her body heals, so it is normal for her to be a little less active and to want to sleep more (this will also help keep her stitches in place). As long as she is otherwise eating, drinking, and passing urine/stool, I would continue to just monitor. If she stops wanting to eat, drink, go potty, or seems to be worsening instead of improving, then going back to the vet is best. Her eyes may still look goopy as many vets use a special lubricant on the eyes when pets are under anesthesia to keep them from drying out. You can safely use a wet washcloth to remove any remaining goop.
