Can I face legal trouble for buying a kitten under 8 weeks old?

In general, I recommend taking the advice of people who have advanced degrees in animal health and medicine. Breeders have no required certifications or education, and often no actual evidence for their recommendations. In this specific case, I will say that for PUPPIES, I prefer 8 weeks of age. However kittens seem to be able to wean, transition to kibbles, and potty train earlier than dogs. Six weeks with their first vaccine and deworming on board is a perfectly safe and reasonable time to get kittens into their new homes! Best wishes to you, the kittens, and their new families!

Hi and thanks for your post. The puppy needs to be with its mother until 8 weeks of age so perhaps this is why the puppy is still with the mother at this time. I'm not sure I follow the entire story but if the dog was paid for by you and you have documentation to state the payment and documentation to state you are now the legal owner, you may inquire as to when you may pick up the puppy. This is usually when the puppy is 8 weeks of age. If you have the dog warden's contact, you may try contacting them if the individual you bought the puppy from cannot be reached. You can continue nursing him with kitten formula until he is about 6-7 weeks old at which point you may switch him to a kibble or canned food diet. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian who can check him and see if he needs any therapy and they can then recommend a preventative plan including vaccines. Best of luck!

While eight weeks is best, it's fine to have Cayde come to your home at seven weeks since you will be at home. That will be great in helping her adjust to her new home, and at seven weeks of age, she will be fully weaned from her mother.

Hi there I would ideally wait until the kittens are 8 weeks old. Many people re home kittens at 6 weeks, but the longer they can be with their mom the better. I'd make sure to continue to work on weaning them as you have, but if you can wait until 8 weeks of age that would be best. Thanks for using Pet Coach!

Depending on her age, the kitten may not be able to break down the milk sugar called lactose much like people with Lactose Intolerance. I wouldn't advise giving milk since it can cause cramping, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal upset. I would advise getting her to your veterinarian right away for an examination. Depending on her age they will advise you on pertinent testing (Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), vaccinations, and deworming to get her off on the right track. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! If the kitten is 3-4 weeks old it can each canned kitten food. There are grocery stores and drug stores that are 24 hours. If it is 1-2 weeks older I would call an emergency vet hospital to see if they carry kitten formula that they will sell you.
