Can I retrieve my paid puppy from the dog warden if it was too young?

I paid for a puppy that's been given to a dog warden with its litter mates and mother because it was only 5 weeks old and the lady was moving and needed them all gone she won't give me my money back for the puppy would the dog warden give me my puppy which I paid £290 for I don't understand why she gave my puppy away too I would have bought puppy formula and bottle fed it can I get it from the dog warden if I explain?

The puppy needs to be with its mother until 8 weeks of age so perhaps this is why the puppy is still with the mother at this time.

I'm not sure I follow the entire story but if the dog was paid for by you and you have documentation to state the payment and documentation to state you are now the legal owner, you may inquire as to when you may pick up the puppy. This is usually when the puppy is 8 weeks of age. If you have the dog warden's contact, you may try contacting them if the individual you bought the puppy from cannot be reached.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Snow is very very cute!! 5 weeks is very young. In the US we do not recommend puppies be removed from their mothers that young. Snow is to young to learn commands and come when called. I promise you with time and as he grows he will learn his name and come. Just practice a few times per day for only a few minutes. Puppies tire easily. It is very common at 5 weeks to appear deaf and like they can't see. It is just immaturity! I hope this helps and have fun with your new puppy!

My 4-week-old puppy left mom early. What health or behavior issues?

If he is no longer nursing, then he isn’t getting antibodies from Mom anymore so he will need to start his vaccine series earlier than usual. Also, he may not learn the social cues that Mom teaches during this time. He can, however, learn those by participating in a puppy play group . I would schedule an appointment with your veterinarian soon to start the vaccinations and to ask for a recommendation for a puppy play group. Best of luck and enjoy your cute new puppy!! Is 4 weeks too young for Shih Tzu puppies to leave their mom?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! While not ideal, this can be done. The pups would have to be fed a milk replacement formula (which you can buy at your local pet store or online) until they are about 6 to 8 weeks at which time they can be introduced to kibble or canned food. Is it too early to bring a new puppy home at 35 days old?

No, I recommend waiting at least until 7-8 weeks after puppy has been with mom. These weeks are important for puppy to bond with the mom and to develop behaviorally and socially. Important socialization occurs during these weeks and it is important to not take puppy from mom too early.

Ideally, they should stay with the mother and litter until at least 8 weeks of age. This can prevent behavioral issues as they get older. They can start weaning to solid foods beginning at about 4 weeks of age. If they can stay with the mother and litter while weaning, this would be best for them in the long run.
