If it just happened once and is not happening again, that might be just something he ate that had a bad taste for him. If it happens again, it is more likely to be a chronic gum disease, this will need to be checked and treated by your vet.

Oh my. These are all very serious symptoms, especially for a cat. They can indicate he could have a number of things going on including: a stroke, seizure, vestibular disease or even brain cancer. He should be seen right away by your vet for diagnotic testing (i.e. bloodwork, radiographs) if you want to pursue any possible treatment options for him. This almost sounds like focal seizure activity - sometimes cats will foam at the mouth and make chewing motions during a seizure. I'm wondering if her eyes seem different because she is actually unconscious during these episodes. Of course ingesting something that tastes bad could also cause something like this but it seems unusual for it to happen more than once. I'd recommend having a vet examine Mao Mao - if you can get a video of the episode it could help your vet determine what's going on.

Poor kitten! Excessive drooling like that can definitely be caused by nausea, as well as irritation of the mouth, throat, nose, or stomach. Getting into something potentially toxic or bad tasting, flea and tick treatments for dogs accidentally used on cats, or underlying illness can also cause foaming like this. I would definitely take him to another vet ASAP since it is so severe.

Hello. I am sorry that Shadow is having these episodes. It sounds a bit like hyperesthesia syndrome, a condition thought to have underlying compulsive behaviors, but can certainly be brought on by other factors such as allergies ( including fleas bites ), but environmental stress ( anything change at home ? ), myositis, seizures, spinal & neuropathic pain. In a 13 year old cat, I would be investigating pain as the cause of these episodes. Hi, Sorry to hear about Jack, the episodes you describing with hypersalivation (increased salivation), shaking and urinating on himself which are happening more during the night can be seizures. I would strongly recommend to have him checked by a vet sooner than later as a frequency of few episodes in a few weeks is high and needs to be managed asap. It is always very helpful in diagnosis to have a video of the episode to show the vet so if you can do that in case another episode occurs before the vet appointment. Hope he will feel better soon.

Based upon the lack of response to treatment, it’s likely Kuskus has an internal disease like renal disease or hyperthyroidism but many many conditions will cause these clinical signs. Dental disease is also possible. At this point, he needs to be examined by the veterinarian and needs bloodwork to check his organ enzyme levels. Have him examined today before he gets worse.
