Can I bathe my cat after neutering to remove the surgery smell?

This is normal, usually toms will pee when waking up from anesthesia after neutering. Unfortunately bathing can facilitate bacteria to enter the would and cause an infection. I suppose you can only go out and buy a can of febreze and spray the room where he spends his time. He himself will stop smelling bad after a while (could be a day or two) because he will be cleaning himself and therefore cleaning up the urine on his fur,

There are other anti-microbial options that could be considered in the meantime. If this very severe and cannot wait, you can check in with your veterinarian for alternatives. Kitties can be so naughty post surgery. Although it is not advised to do a full body bath, you can use a waterless shampoo and kitten wipes from your local pet store to get him clean. As long as the inicision site itself stays dry you are ok. Best of luck keeping kitty clean! : ) Take care.

While I don't consider it dangerous to allow Camoo to clean himself, it would be a much faster process to bathe him. That being said, many cats will fight bathing, and if he has just recovered from a serious wound, it isn't worth fighting with him to accomplish the bath. If he will calmly tolerate the bath, then it is worth trying that route. If he is used to the cone at this point, you might leave it on during the bath, just in case he gets upset, as this can protect your hands from bites. It all depends on his temperament and reaction to water. I recommend offering lots of treats through the bath to try and make it a positive experience. For routine bathing, I recommend waiting at least 10-14 days, or until the skin appears visibly healed. If Princess has managed to get herself quite dirty prior to this, you may wipe the area clean with a soapy wet towel (mild hand-washing dishsoap such as Dawn works well) - it's important to keep the area around the incision clean while it's healing, but I would wait until the incision is totally healed before immersing her in water. The stitches have to be kept dry, so no Cleo cannot have a bath. She should not be allowed to roll around it the mud while she is healing, so I would keep her indoors until it's time for the stitches to come out. Try to remove the mud with a soft wash cloth.

I would not give her a bath just yet, as there is a chance infection can enter the uterus when you bath a cat right after giving birth. I would wait at least 2-3 days before bathing her. At this point, her cervix will be closed. Be sure to rinse her off well to get all the cat shampoo off her for the safety of her kittens. You can use a warm damp washcloth to gently wipe around her vaginal area to get give her a bit of a cleaning.
