My cat is dirty after spay surgery. Can I bathe her with stitches in?

Kitties can be so naughty post surgery. Although it is not advised to do a full body bath, you can use a waterless shampoo and kitten wipes from your local pet store to get him clean. As long as the inicision site itself stays dry you are ok. Best of luck keeping kitty clean! : ) Take care.

I usually recommend waiting about 24-48 hours after the stitches have been removed. If she has soiled her suture site, then spot clean the area with a damp cloth. I hope this information helps!

Hello, you should not bathe Batman for two weeks until his incision has healed. You would use a skin sensitive baby wipe to clean him off as long as you don't clean around his scrotum. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Cats are little stinkers! You may have to try a longer than normal rigid e-collar, or you can look for the bowl style that are used in cats. You could try a large tube sock as a dress (cut holes for head and arms). You could attach string or elastic to make "stirrups" that pull the shirt down. As for cleaning, a warm wet washcloth is all that is needed. Though, since it appears red and swollen, I would recommend taking her to the vet for evaluation and possibly to start antibiotics.

While I don't consider it dangerous to allow Camoo to clean himself, it would be a much faster process to bathe him. That being said, many cats will fight bathing, and if he has just recovered from a serious wound, it isn't worth fighting with him to accomplish the bath. If he will calmly tolerate the bath, then it is worth trying that route. If he is used to the cone at this point, you might leave it on during the bath, just in case he gets upset, as this can protect your hands from bites. It all depends on his temperament and reaction to water. I recommend offering lots of treats through the bath to try and make it a positive experience. Thank you for the picture, it's very helpful. The bleeding may be due to you cleaning the area, as it should not be washed while healing as that disturbs the scab and the healing process. Also stitches should not get wet. In the picture, the skin around the area does not look red or swollen. Please feel the area, and make sure it does not feel warm to the touch; if it does, that means it is infected and Charlie has to go back to the vet now. When the vet said keep the area clean, it means keep the area dry and away from dirt and debris, not to wash it. Please do not wash it again, pat the area dry, and since there was only a bit of bleeding, just monitor it for now. If you see redness, swelling, pus, the skin is warm to the touch, she becomes lethargic, and/or she has a loss of appetite, she needs to see a vet immediately. I hope this helps!
