How soon can my cats safely be with my dogs after flea prevention?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 34 lbs

When is it safe to have my cats back around my dogs after applying advantage flea prevention? I know it can be very toxic to cats if they ingest it, etc. So I want to be safe. Thanks

Advantage is not toxic to cats, but K9 Advantix is - so if this is what you're using, you want to make sure that the product is fully dry before any close contact (like cuddling, mutual grooming, etc.) between the dog and the cats. I would wait at least 24 hours to be safe.
