Why is my wild fledgeling dove breathing fast and very weak?

I have a wild dove it’s breathing rapidly can’t stand it’s legs are very weak not eating or anything so feeding him using syringe it’s a fledgeling it’s wings are open she’s not closing them she can’t even sit on her legs her legs are a bit purplish but the legs of it’s parents are also purple and they’re fine It was fine yesterday and the day before was eating and drinking alright but now it’s bad. Its very dull and breathing rapidly

Thanks for reaching out about Birdie. The possibility of aspiration pneumonia is high, or another respiratory infection. A veterinary visit or relinquishment to a wildlife rehabilitation facility is recommended.

Your best bet, with any found wild bird, is to try and find a wildlife refuge or veterinary clinic that can take him in. They are better equipped to help treat and rehabilitate sick birds and get them back into the wild safely. Since you did not provide your correct location I cannot assist you in finding someone to help you. If you don't want to take her to a vet then you need to find a wildlife rehabilitator to take her.

I found a wild dove. Is it sick or just scared? What should I do?

When a bird puffs up like this it is usually an indication of illness, pain, or discomfort. Since this is a wild bird I would recommend calling a local wildlife rehabilitation center. People there are trained to take care of birds like this so they can be hopefully reintroduced to the wild. Best of luck.

There are multiple causes of acute loss of legs including: spinal trauma, metabolic concerns (liver, kidney), infectious diseases (circovirus, aspergillosis), and more. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. For now, remove perches and provide a soft towel on which to sit. Ensure that food and water are within reach. Providing heat and humidity support are very important. Concerns are over some underlying disease (bacterial, viral, developmental) and that is why hen kicked it out of the nest.
