My injured bird can't fly, stand, or stay awake. What do I do?

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male

I found an Injured bird I can't take it to a vet he can't fly amd Cant even stand On his Own And is Continuously sleeping From morning till now What should I do he isnt having An External injury I mena No wounds or bleeding but the skin under wings is reddish and losing feathee

Thanks for reaching out about your rescued bird. By the photos, he appears very depressed and weak. A veterinary clinic or wildlife rehabilitation society should be contacted. Provide heat support in the 80-85 F range, offer water via a small syringe. Only chance is to try and nurse back to health.

    It would be best to try and find a local wildlife rescue near you, or if one isn't available, a local veterinarian to take a look at the bird and assess its injuries. Wildlife centers are best equipped to help properly care for the injured bird and re-released it back into the wild once it's healthy. Keeping the bird in a quiet, dark, cool location is best until you can get care to help reduce stress and strain on its body.

You might have to travel to the vet as this is probably beyond what can be done at home. A warm environment, remove perches to prevent further falling. What should I do if I found a sick or injured wild bird at home?
I am sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds like she defintely needs medical attention. I would see if your parents can drive her to a rehab center or some rehab volunteers will pick animals up so perhaps you can find someone to do this. You can look at https://www.nwrawildlife.org/page/Find_A_Rehabilitator and https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/how-find-wildlife-rehabilitator to try to find a rehabilitator near you. Until then I would keep the bird in a quiet dark place and handle it as little as possible.

Found an adult bird that can't fly, but has no injury. What's wrong?
Thanks for reaching out about this found hawk and including photos. Most likely a young bird that fell out of a nest. A wildlife rescue group should be contacted to provide proper nutrition and management, and to be able to train to fly and socialize with other hawks. This will increase success of re-release. If you've found a wild bird, the best option is to try and find a wildlife rehab near you that can take the bird in, treat it, and safely release it. If she is becoming listless or unmoving, and isn't wanting to eat or drink, I would be concerned that her condition is worsening and veterinary care should be sought (even if it isn't an avian specialist.)

It could be the bird is just stressed out from the day's activity, however, with wild animals it is best to try and find a vet that will see them, or a local wildlife rehab in your area that will take the bird in, examine it, treat it, and re-release it in the wild.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do other than try to keep the bird calm and quiet. I would avoid handling it as birds can pass illnesses to people and other pets. Trying to find a wildlife rehab that can take it ASAP is best!
