Why is my bird weak and sleepy when my other birds are active?

Thanks for reaching out about Nino. If he/she is tired and weak, it might be not getting enough food, but could also be ill. A veterinary visit is recommended. Are you providing supplemental heat, in the 80-85 F range? Do you have a feeling Nino is loosing weight? Try the above mentioned, but see your veterinarian. Good luck.

Providing heat support in the 80-85 F range can give some aid but a veterinary visit is highly recommended, as soon as possible, to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Check and correct diet, as an all seed diet is not sufficient for proper health. Vitamins, mineral and proteins are also needed. I'm sorry to hear Sky isn't feeling well. Unfortunately, those are very general signs of illness that can be caused by a number of things, so seeking veterinary care is best to help narrow down the cause and get her feeling better. Illness, infections, parasites, malnutrition, etc can all cause a bird to become ill and lethargic. Until you can get to the vet, you can move Sky to a separate hospital cage that is kept warm if she is kept with other birds, with easy access to food and water, and in a calm, quiet location. This may help her some until your vet can determine the issue.

If your bird is sitting on the bottom of the cage, this is often a sign that your bird is too week to perch. Shaking the head might be a sign of nausea or regurgitation, or a sinus infection. A veterinary visit is recommended. But, providing heat support at home might help provide some strength to your bird. Most veterinarians will attempt to keep sick birds in incubators at 85-90 F. Take the perches out of the cage and provide a towel on the bottom of the cage for comfort. Place food and water bowls on the bottom within easy reach of your bird. There are no medications that can be prescribed over the internet. But providing heat support in the 80-85 degrees range, 24/7 might allow him to conserve some energy that he would normally use to heat himself. Remove perches and allow to stand on a flat soft surface (towel or blanket). Ensure that food and water are within easy reach. Using a small syringe without a needle, to offer water is very important. Go slow as to not allow aspiration into the lungs. Most pet stores sell baby bird hand rearing formulas, in an attempt to give calories. Still, a veterinary visit is best. Good luck.
