Why is my senior parrot suddenly quiet, sleeping, and hiding?

Hello, I would recommend taking Ollie into his veterinarian for a check up. Birds often hide illness until it is very severe, so even a mildly quieter bird may be a very sick one. They will likely recommend bloodwork and x-rays to start investigating possible causes of illness. Hi, The changes you have described in Chuy are very conserning to me. Birds can become sick very quickly and tend to hide signs of illness. I’m worried that Chuy May have an infection or other serious illness that would cause him to be lethargic and not eat. Unfortunately, not eating and being listless are very vague symptoms of illness. Anything from being overheated, to having internal parasites, GI upset, underlying illness, etc can be a potential cause. If they have not eaten anything in several days, it is best to seek veterinary care immediately as by the time birds show symptoms of illness they are usually pretty sick. Until you can get to the vet, separating them into warm hospital cages that are kept in a quiet, dark area with easy access to food and water may help, however seeking veterinary care is needed.
