Why is my parrot not eating and acting quiet for several days?

My parrots are not eating anything from 2-3 days .thet have become quiet . Reason?

Unfortunately, not eating and being listless are very vague symptoms of illness. Anything from being overheated, to having internal parasites, GI upset, underlying illness, etc can be a potential cause. If they have not eaten anything in several days, it is best to seek veterinary care immediately as by the time birds show symptoms of illness they are usually pretty sick.

Until you can get to the vet, separating them into warm hospital cages that are kept in a quiet, dark area with easy access to food and water may help, however seeking veterinary care is needed.

If he was fine and active just minutes ago it may be that he's just sleepy and wanting to take a nap. it is normal for birds to have periods of activity followed by periods of rest throughout the day, and if your bird is still a baby this is more than normal, especially after eating.

If you're seeing any signs of illness such as puffed feathers, acting sleepy ALL the time, not wanting to eat, etc, then that should be checked out by a vet.

It's possible something may have startled him, especially if his routine has been changed or the workers nearby are being very loud. I would move him to a more calm section of the house if possible to see if that helps him to relax and encourages him to eat.

if after a day he doesn't return to his normal self, or you see other signs of illness such as puffing of feathers, listless behavior, changes in stool or he still doesn't want to eat or drink, then seeking veterinary care to rule out any health issues is best.

In the meantime, keeping him in a warm hospital cage that is separated from any other birds and with easy access to food and water in shallow dishes with low perches may help some until he can be seen by a vet.

Listless behavior, low energy, sleeping all the time and not eating or drinking as much are all very vague symptoms of illness and should be checked out by a vet to find the underlying causes. Infections, illness, injuries, parasites, nutritional issues, etc can all be possible causes. Keeping him warm and quiet, as well as providing easy access to food and water may help. If he is in a very loud or high-stress area, moving him somewhere quieter may also help him to relax and feel better, however if he continues to act unwell or doesn't perk back up, a vet exam is best.

Hi, The changes you have described in Chuy are very conserning to me. Birds can become sick very quickly and tend to hide signs of illness. I’m worried that Chuy May have an infection or other serious illness that would cause him to be lethargic and not eat. I recommend you take Chuy to your veterinarian as soon as you can for an examination. They will be able to do any additional tests needed and start the appprorpate treatment. Good luck!

Unfortunately, those are very general signs of illness that can be caused by a number of things, so seeking veterinary care is best to help narrow down the cause and get her feeling better. Illness, infections, parasites, malnutrition, etc can all cause a bird to become ill and lethargic. Until you can get to the vet, you can move Sky to a separate hospital cage that is kept warm if she is kept with other birds, with easy access to food and water, and in a calm, quiet location. This may help her some until your vet can determine the issue.
