Why is my injured wild bird sleeping so much? Is this normal?

Hii I found a green indian bee eater whose wing was slightly injured. That Little birdie is with me it's her second day at home. There's no vet nearby who knows about birds. I had called one he asked me to put some antibiotic ointment. I am a med student myself. So I'm gently applying betadine &+ neosporin ointment on the affected area.. But the real problem is she's sleeping since yesterday evening. Is it normal? Please do help! Thanks in advance and god bless

If you've found a wild bird, the best option is to try and find a wildlife rehab near you that can take the bird in, treat it, and safely release it. If she is becoming listless or unmoving, and isn't wanting to eat or drink, I would be concerned that her condition is worsening and veterinary care should be sought (even if it isn't an avian specialist.)

I am sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds like she defintely needs medical attention. I would see if your parents can drive her to a rehab center or some rehab volunteers will pick animals up so perhaps you can find someone to do this. You can look at https://www.nwrawildlife.org/page/Find_A_Rehabilitator and https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/how-find-wildlife-rehabilitator to try to find a rehabilitator near you. Until then I would keep the bird in a quiet dark place and handle it as little as possible.

A wild bird fell and looks injured. Is it dying or resting?

He may be stressed or injured. Without an exam, it is difficult to determine. Monitor it as best as you can. If he falls out of the tree, place him in a soft, padded box or cage until he recovers. You can also contact a local veterinarian and ask if they know of or work with a wildlife specialist that could examine, treat and eventually release the bird.

It could be the bird is just stressed out from the day's activity, however, with wild animals it is best to try and find a vet that will see them, or a local wildlife rehab in your area that will take the bird in, examine it, treat it, and re-release it in the wild.
