Found an injured wild bird that's twitching and can't fly. What to do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Wild Bird | Male

Found a wild and injured (elster) bird on my way home from the grocery store. It's been in my garage in a box the past 6 hours. I haven't given it food or water. Now it is twitching. (Tomorrow hopefully some professional can help.) No bleeding that I can see/ visual injuries but the bird couldn't fly or walk. I feel bad not being able to do anyhing ? I have no idea what could be wrong

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do other than try to keep the bird calm and quiet. I would avoid handling it as birds can pass illnesses to people and other pets. Trying to find a wildlife rehab that can take it ASAP is best!
