Conure got toy stuck in beak. What side effects should I watch for?

If you believe Conk has ingested a foreign body it would be best to seek veterinary care ASAP, especially if he is showing any signs of illness such as vomiting, unable to pass stool, lethargy, loss of appetite, etc, which could indicate something is stuck.

Thanks for reaching out about Romeo and including photos. The concern would be if the hole penetrates into the sublingual space and sets up an infection. As the beak grows, the hole should move rostrally and disappear (could take months). A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and start preventative antibiotics. Good luck.

He will likely be fine. Most birds will simply chew paper or fabric without actually ingesting it. You can monitor for lethargy, loss of appetite or loose droppings. See your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating birds if necessary.

Provide food and water and minimize stress and handling once separated. I would recommend taking him to an avian veterinarian to assess the severity of the injury and determine what treatment may be needed. Those are some pretty loose stools and/or vomit. I would pick up any extras such as toys he may be eating, snacks, treats, etc for a day to see if this resolves the issue as these can sometimes cause GI irritation and upset. If the vomiting continues, you see more loose stool, or you see other symptoms such as changes in appetite, behavior, energy levels, etc, then it would be best to bring your bird to your vet as there could be an issue such as an infection, obstruction, GI upset, parasites, etc causing it.

If the beak is intact and attached firmly to the head, there is likely no cause for concern. Some birds will click or grind their beaks when they are settling down for the night or if they are comfortable. You can monitor for decreased appetite, weight loss or lethargy. These symptoms would indicate illness or injury. An exam with your veterinarian or an experienced avian vet would be recommended if Ocke develops any of these symptoms.

I'm very sorry to see this! It appears that your poor parrot has what's known as a palatine bone luxation. This usually happens when something hits there face very hard. Unfortunately, these cannot be easily fixed and will require the parrot to have anesthesia, x-rays and possibly surgery by a veterinarian. Finding a vet that can do this may be difficult, but you can ask your local vet doctors there to help you find a bird doctor. This needs to be corrected soon, because birds can get very weak if they are not able to eat. Hopefully you are able to give him food and water through a syringe right now.
