Pregnant horse sweating, veins showing, wants to lie down. What to do?

These prominent veins could be completely normal on Pearl. Some horses naturally have more prominent superficial veins, especially in areas where there isn't a lot of fat such as the lower legs and the face. This may not be something you need to be concerned about, but without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. As long as she is otherwise eating and drinking normally, going to the bathroom normally, and behaving normally, I wouldn't be too worried. Instead, the next time you have the equine vet out, just have them check her over to make sure it's normal. I hope this helps!

She may be very tired. I would check to see if there is heat in her feet and make sure she’s eating and drinking. Hello, again. As I said earlier, it depends when, or how long ago she was with the colt. Size may matter, but sometimes where there is a will, there is a way. It is possible that your mare may be trying to colic, so the best thing to do is get a vet out to check. Horses are pregnant about 330 days, & it is usually only in the last few months that you can see the foal kicking or moving inside. Sounds like he is colicking. I suggest you get a vet out there to check him out. Glad he drank some water and had some electrolytes but the fact that he keeps laying down is not good. He may need some Bute or Banamine (anti-inflammatory) - he may have muscle inflammation from being down/tangled.

Her front leg looks very swollen. This cow needs to be seen by a vet asap to ascertain what is wrong with her leg and get appropriate treatment. It is important to let a vet treat her as the wrong medication could kill her calve, likewise if she is in pain the stress could effect her calve.

Horses need to pass the afterbirth within 1 hour or the placenta is considered retained. This can lead to serious infections of the uterus or reproductive tissues. Please call your vet right away because it is important that she have an examination. They can be sure that she passed the complete placenta or they will flush her out and administer antibiotics.

However, the not getting up as well as the lethargic and bleeding from the vagina is concerning if she is pregnant. This may be an indication something is wrong with her pups and the pregnancy or she may have pregnancy toxemia. If she isn't pregnant, there is another medical reason behind her symptoms that needs to be addressed by a veterinarian in person. It is hard to say what exactly is going on without examining her first. My best advice is to have her seen right away by a veterinarian or taken to an emergency veterinary clinic.
