Mini pig has rash and raw skin, no vet available, what to do?

The look like cuts or abrasions. I would look carefully around the house and yard to see if there is anything that Pickles may have run through or gotten tangled in to cause this type of wound. In the first picture, there may be damage deeper than just skin level, and I would recommend that this one be checked out by a vet. You can continue to use the Neosporin and prevent licking, but no need to continue using peroxide. He should definitely be examined by a vet if there is a creamy discharge, discharge with a foul odor, swelling around the wound, or if Pickles develops any other abnormal symptoms.

Thanks for reaching out about Oliver. Parasitic and bacterial dermatitis are common problems in pigs, and can possibly be transmitted to dogs. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Both of these causes can be very itchy and uncomfortable but either anti-parasitics or antibiotics have a good prognosis. Good luck.

Hello. The cut could use some stitches, but as long as you keep it clean & treated, it should heal just fine. I would clean the wound with a good skin antiseptic like Hibiclens ( available at all pharmacies ) & clean at least twice a day. Then apply your spray. My best guess is that this could be ringworm however it is impossible to tell just by looking at a photo. I suggest you get this spray and apply it 2-3 times daily on the affected area. Wash your hands thoroughly after touching her as ringworm, if it is that, is contagious to people.

Without seeing and palpating the lump it is not possible to give you an idea about what this is. This could ba arthritis, an abscessed joint or other abscess or one of many other types of abcesses. Instead of putting ointment or similar medications on it without really knowing what the problem is, I would take her to a veterinarian for an exam. She may need oral prescription antibiotics and/or antiinflammatories and the lesion may need to be opened and flushed.

This area commonly stays moist and can develop a skin infection because of this. I would recommend using Malacetic Conditioning Spray (can be found online) and apply to the area twice daily until resolved. I would also recommend using a steroid spray (Petco has a spray called Well & Good Hydrocortisone spray) and apply twice daily as well to help relieve inflammation. If this does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps!
