What can I do for my pet's rash? When should I see a vet about it?

It does look like a skin infection but the origin (bacterial, fungal, yeast) I don't know just by looking at it. If it is bacterial, sometimes oral antibiotics are needed if topical therapy is not working. I don't know what cream you are using as I am not aware of a chlorhexidine cream, or how long you have been using it, so it's hard for me to comment much more on what you are already doing. I personally like these chlorhexidine wipes because they also contain an anti-fungal/anti-yeast component (climabazole) and a component to help repair the skin (phytosphingosine) so it is gentle. So, if she is licking, you will need to get an E-collar (cone) for her to wear until this is healed. So, if you want to try the medicated pads, I would do that. If there is still not resolution after a few weeks then she should go back to the vet. Skin maladies typically take quite a long time to respond completely to treatment so as long as it's not bothering her too much just continue on for a few more weeks. This area commonly stays moist and can develop a skin infection because of this. I would recommend using Malacetic Conditioning Spray (can be found online) and apply to the area twice daily until resolved. I would also recommend using a steroid spray (Petco has a spray called Well & Good Hydrocortisone spray) and apply twice daily as well to help relieve inflammation. We call this superficial pyoderma. For these, I recommend topical therapy and skin supplementation. It could be an allergy or an infection. Hard to say without an exam and some testing. You can try using this medicated spray on the affected area . It looks like some moist dermatitis (superficial skin infection) similar to a heat rash. I suggest you apply some of this spray on it two to three times daily until healed. If no improvement or it worsens then I suggest you get him to your vet for an exam. ( #customerReviews ) As a side note, it isn't really recommended that you take a puppy this young to a dog park. At three months of age they are not fully vaccinated and their immune system is not fully developed. Too many diseases they can catch...... That looks pretty irritated. Its possible that she's got an underlying allergy, but that skin looks infected. I strongly recommend you get in to see your vet. She may need antibiotics. You can try a medicated shampoo and a some topical over the counter treatment for a few days, but if she's not improving after a few days, or if its getting worse or she starts acting sick, get her in to the vet ASAP. Poor Tardis! I would try to use a cortisone or Benadryl spray on the area and put an cone collar on her to prevent the licking. You can also give her oral Benadryl if needed for itching. See link below. If it persists despite trying this or if it worsens then yes, I would certainly take her in. Your vet will be able to give her stronger meds to help this heal faster.
