My lamb ate a toxic plant, foaming and confused. What should I do?

Unfortunately, the lily plant is one of the most toxic houseplants for cats, and eating as little as two or three leaves is enough to cause liver failure. If left untreated, it can be fatal, and Callie has to see a vet right away. I would call a friend to see if they could come watch your baby, and take her into a vet now. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. Thanks for reaching out about Samson and including a photo. Stems and roots are much more toxic than flowers. A veterinary visit can provide a gastric lavage (flush) but you can not induce vomiting in rabbits. Monitor appetite and water intake. Good luck.

This lamb sounds extremely ill. You really need to get a vet out there to check him or you need to take him to a clinic for treatment especially if you have never had lambs before. That is going to give him the best chance at survival. Any number of illness and/or diseases can cause those symptoms. I would be worried about the possibility of Listeria, Border disease or copper deficiency but it could be any number of other things. Please get him to a vet.

Azalea is toxic to goats. GI signs appear first within six hours of ingestion, and include salivation, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and tremors. If he ate enough of the plant, then symptoms progress to convulsions, followed by coma and death. If you aren't sure that Jebediah ate the plant, I would monitor him for now, and keep him in place where he has no access to the Azalea. If you notice any of the GI signs I mentioned above, you will need to get a vet out to see him immediately. There is no cure for Azalea toxicity, but there is supportive treatment. Activated charcoal can be given to prevent further absorption of the toxin, as well as IV fluids.

The leaves were probably toxic. As it’s already been a few days she should be recovering. If she’s worse you need veterinary care. Oh no, that's not good that Layla ate a petal from a lily! As I'm sure you know, the lily is toxic to dogs and causes GI upset, anorexia, and tremors. Typically a dog has to eat large amounts of it to cause these symptoms, so one petal may not be enough to cause any problems. I would watch Layla for now, and if you do see any GI upset in the form of vomiting or diarrhea, I can give you a home remedy to try. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.
