My young rabbit ate poisonous plants and won't eat. What should I do?

One leaf will likely not pose a serious risk of toxicity. Monitor for lethargy, loss of appetite, diarrhea or a change in thirst/urination. If necessary, see your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating rabbits. Treatment is largely supportive (fluids, special diet, etc.).

A rabbit that will not eat should be considered a veterinary emergency. Anorexia in rabbits can slow down or stop the gut which can lead to a dangerous build-up of bacteria and gas. This can be deadly. It is critical to have Thumper examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating rabbits to get him eating as soon as possible and to diagnose the reason for his loss of appetite. Keep timothy hay and water available at all times. You can soak some pellets in an unflavored electrolyte replacement beverage to make a mash which may make eating easier also.

It's very likely to be the poison you sprayed in the house, you need to take Thumper to the vet urgently, he will need to be given supportive treatment, mainly fluid therapy in order to flush the toxin from his system.

I would just monitor for gastrointestinal upset. Usually these are not toxic but can cause soft stool. In rabbits soft stool can be considered an emergency. Rabbits eat a part of their feces to help them digest food. If Alpha develops diarrhea I recommend taking him to a vet for an exam.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry that your little rabbit isn't feeling well. I agree it sounds like it might be GI stasis or a blockage and this is very serious. If there are any 24 hour vets you can go to then I would go right away. Otherwise, you can dilute the critical care with water as it says on the package, and feed it every 2 hours. You can try adding a bit of pineapple juice as well. If the abdomen isn't bloated you can try gentle massage of the abdomen, but only if your little rabbit doesn't seem sore. Best of luck with your little one, and get it to a vet as soon as possible!
