Are you interested in becoming a frog parent? These fun amphibians can make great pets—watching how they eat, swim, live and communicate can be a fascinating pastime. Their habitat also makes a beautiful centerpiece for any room, and choosing the right accessories and lighting can really make it stand out and shine.
Yes, you can also make terrariums for frogs out of empty aquariums. These habitats are very versatile and can create a great habitat for various reptiles and amphibians. However, you’ll likely want to use a terrarium screen with your aquarium instead of a standard hood to help increase airflow. Also, clean and sterilize the aquarium before using it as a tank for frogs.
A 5-gallon tank may be too small for more than one or two of your African dwarf frogs. They may be smaller than average, but they still need room to explore. Being overcrowded can make them unhappy and competitive with the other frogs in the habitat.
TThis greatly on the species of frog and their average size. Many pet parents follow a 10 gallons per frog rule, but 5 gallons per frog may be appropriate for smaller species. Your pet needs as much room in their frog tank as possible.
Here are some important items you may want to find and set up before bringing home African dwarf frogs.

What's a good food for Green Tree Frogs
first of all, thanks for your advice with my african dwarf frogs! after the aquarium salt bath they are doing great and even look more vibrant now! i was wanting to know what substrate would be best in the tank. would sand be okay or would they eat that like the gravel? i have a heavily planted aquarium and need something to keep the plants in place but i dont want my frogs to eat it and have something happen to them. i find conflicting information when i research it online. thanks!
Hello! I’ve been thinking about purchasing a leopard gecko and I’m not sure if your know anything about this but, would it be okay to use a fish tank that was originally used for a hamster?
I have a female betta wh seems quite passive, she is in a 3 gal tank and I wanted to add a tank mate since I am still new with fish and I read that african dwarf frogs are good starting pets, would I be able to keep the frog in the same tank without any trouble and would they be a good starting amphibian?
Is this a good setup for Nighthawk, the first photo is the over all setup, the second one is the side view and the third is the water and calcium dishes. I use an under tank heater that stays at about 88 degrees Fahrenheit and the vines are fake. He has a warm hide and a cold hide with moss in it that’s i spray down every other day. The little box is another little hide that I can see him in. And the background is tile it paper rolls that were painted(they were left to dry for two weeks)
Hi, I’m having a problem with a tiny white bug infestation in my amphibians tanks, they arrived in damp substrate that came with a frog and now I can’t get rid of them. They are the same size as a spring tail but slow moving and round, maybe a mite? Any advice on how to get rid of them greatly appreciated as they keep coming back especially around damp areas

I have an african dwarf frog and it has a growth on one of it`s sides.on that side it looks like it is pregnant but only on one side. The side that has the growth floats so my ADF is stuck on it`s side or back usualy. It could not swim from the surface. Then when I tryed to catch him to put him in quarentine he sudenly sank and could not swim up to the surface.I now have him in quarentine and am treating him with pimafix, melifix, and stress coat.Ten gallon tank,2otherADFs and4 zebra danios, one died.
I purchased a pollywog for my grandson from a childrens catalog. Pollywog is now a frog. I have two questions: 1- in the spring I would like to turn this frog loose but am afraid I will be introducing an invasive species. Also, I don't want to hurt the frog. 2- I have been feeding live worm pieces which he seems to thik are delectable, at least until now, Now, I can't get him to eat at all. is he hybernating? There is some action from him but not much. Thanks, Pat
