Why is my sugar glider throwing up after eating too many treats?

Thanks for reaching out about Lemon and including photos. Even though the pictures are slightly out of focus, what is observed is the penis and probable rectal prolapse. Causes are likely straining to defecate or urinate. A veterinary visit is recommended as soon as possible because once the rectal tissue dries, unlikely to be saved. Trying to keep it moist with a wet paper towel might work for now but is not a treatment. Good luck.

It's common for puppies and adult dogs to throw-up when they eat something that doesn't agree with their stomach. This can also happen when they exercise just after eating. I wouldn't be concerned unless she vomits three or more times, has any other signs of illness, or you notice blood in the vomit. Otherwise, she should be fine. Give her stomach a rest for four or more hours and only feed a small amount at her next feeding. If she keeps that down, then you can feed her the normal amount of her food. She probably vomited because she ate a lot of different treats. At this point, you shouldn’t be concerned but if she continues to vomit or becomes lethargic then she should be examined by your vet. Any type of new diet or treat can cause gastric upset and new foods should be introduced gradually.

I think that you are right to be concerned about Geo. With the previous lack of humidity and inappropriate husbandry, I would be worried that she may have an impaction. When impactions occur in the intestinal tract or colon, it does not allow additional food to pass through the intestines. This eventually will lead to regurgitation. This is a common finding in geckos that have not had appropriate husbandry. The regurgitation may also be due to her not feeling well - just like when we get sick, reptiles can become nauseous. This is less of a specific sign and can be due to numerous diseases. I would recommend taking Geo in for evaluation by a veterinarian. They can perform a thorough physical examination and see if they suspect an impaction based on palpation of the coelom (feeling the belly). Depending on what they find, they may recommend diagnostics or treatments for Geo. I know that you have already increased the humidity, but it may also be a good idea to soak Geo in 85-90 F water for 15-20 minutes twice daily. This may encourage her to drink (although many leopard geckos do not like to soak, even though it is good for them :) ) and hydrate. He might be suffering with a touch of pancreatitis.It could also be just a tummy upset from eating too much, but some medications will help him get back on truck promptly.
