My pet rat found DayQuil. Is it dangerous if she ingested any?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rat | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 29 days old

Hello! I found my pet female rat, about 2.5 months old, with a DayQuil capsule she found. It doesn’t look like she ate much of it at all since most of the liquid spilled out. Is this something I should be concerned about?

If RuRu is otherwise acting normally and eating there should not be anything to worry about. If she did ingest the medication she probably would have only eaten a very small part since the medicine would not taste good.

I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
