My rabbit has white worms in litter box. Are they internal? How to prevent?

A wolf worm is the larva from a fly. The fly will lay an egg in a wound on another animal (like a rabbit or cat) and once the egg hatches you have the wolf worm. It is very important to make sure the environment your bunny is in is clean, free from excess feces and urine and leftover food and anything else that may attract flies. It is also important to check your rabbit daily for any wounds and have them treated right away if you notice them to prevent any further infestation.

I'm sorry but without seeing these bugs there is not much I can tell you other than they may be lice. This is the only bug I can think of that may be white and that you can actually see with the naked eye. I strongly suggest you get Binky to your vet for an exam. They will be able to tell you what she has and what is the best treatment for her and for her hutch/environment.

The worms in the photo appear to be tapeworms or, less commonly, pinworms. these can cause impactions and diarrhea, especially in kittens. Unfortunately, I am unable to prescribe medication for Coco without having examined her. However, your veterinarian can quickly determine the exact type of parasites present with a fecal sample and prescribe the appropriate treatment. Because many parasites are transmitted by fleas, it is important for Coco to be on a monthly flea preventative. You should also be careful when cleaning out her litter box to make sure you wash your hands well with soap and water, as some of these parasites can infect humans. I hope all is well!

If you found these worms in your cat's litter box, then yes there are likely more. It could be that they have roundworms. Gracie and Susie will need deworming treatments. I recommend Panacur, which you can get OTC. Be sure to give them a second course of the deforming treatment two weeks after you finish the first to make sure you have killed all the worms.

Hello. There are just too many questions that need to be answered in order to offer any advice. The best thing is to have your bunny examined by a veterinarian who can check Laddu for intestinal parasites, discuss the diet you are feeding her & possibly start her on a Critical Care diet & possibly antibiotics. Hello. Parasites are any organisms that live on the body & can cause irritation, infection, or other disease. Fleas, ticks, mites & lice live on the outside of the body. Parasitic worms, coccidia, giardia & others are parasites that can cause diarrhea, weight loss, bleeding & other problems inside the body, primarily in the intestines. Treatment depends on what you have. The easiest way to approach this is to take Bun Bun to your vet for a thorough exam of the outside for skin parasites, & then a stool check to see what parasites may be present in the intestines. I recommend you take Smokey to a vet so you can be sure you are deworming for the correct type of worms and that you are giving the correct medication/dose. To answer your questions specifically, there is a dewormer called piperazine that will get rid of pinworms. I do not know if it is available over the counter in the UK (it is in the US). You must deworm your rabbit once weekly for three weeks to eliminate both the mature and immature worms. Hope this answers your question. If not, please feel free to post again.
