Why is my rabbit's pee white and poop strange? Is it normal?

Hello there! Rabbit urine can be a rainbow of colors and still be normal. Rabbits excrete a large amount of minerals in their urine, like calcium, which can be whitish in color. Their urine also changes color based on what they eat - for example, a rabbit that eats a lot of carrot or sweet potato in a day will have dark orange colored urine. Milky white urine is probably nothing to worry about, but if Blacky is exhibiting any other symptoms (like anorexia or diarrhea), or you see any mucous-like substances or red streaking (potentially blood) in the urine, be sure to visit your vet right away. It is very normal for rabbits to have "milky urine" as they excrete a significant amount of calcium in their urine. It is also not unusual for their urine to be red-tinged, as a result of the porphyrins and plant pigments they excrete in their urine. I hope this is helpful!

This is a normal type of feces for rabbits to make and is normally consumed directly from the anus, which is why most owners do not see it. Most rabbits eat this feces based on their vitamin needs and it can vary day to day. I recommend feeding Stanley a diet of rabbit pellets, hay, and occasional fresh fruits and veggies. That appears to be urine. The feces next to it appears normal. Rabbit urine can be cloudy and may range in color from white to red. If she is behaving normally otherwise, monitor for lethargy or loss of appetite. Since she is "new" to you, consider an exam with your veterinarian to confirm good health or to diagnose and treat any pre-existing conditions.

It would be more helpful if you could give some additional information. What do you think she may have or could have ingested? Is she eating and drinking and urinating normally? He may have some minor GI upset. Discontinue feeding any fruits or vegetables temporarily. Feed only timothy hay or similar grasses. Offer as much as he wants. The high fiber may set his GI tract straight again. If not, have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating rabbits. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites. Rabbits will also produce softer stool at night which is normal. You may see them eating this "night stool" as part of their diet.

Hello. What you are seeing are porphyrin pigments in the urine. This is perfectly normal & may come & go. Make sure his pelleted diet is fresh & appropriate for rabbits. Rabbits absolutely need hay & grasses to live well & should be available to Snow all day long. You can feed other green leafy plants such as broccoli, cabbage, chard, parsley, celery leaves, watercress, kale, endive & carrot & beet tops.
