Is spaying safe for my rabbit? Will it stop her destructive behavior?

There is no way to know if spaying will help to change her behvavior or not. There is no guarantee but it probably will help somewhat. Rabbits are very territorial so once that behavior is ingrained in them it is hard to correct it even with surgery. When they are spayed younger, the surgery has a better chance of working to change unwanted behaviors. It is recommended to spay around 4-6 months. The fact that Alice is an adult rabbit now does not increase the risks when you have her spayed, It is a good idea to have her spayed due to the uterine cancer risk and also avoiding spraying, which females sometimes do. So you can have her spayed now, preferably at a veterinary office that treats a lot of bunnies.

Generally spayed/neutered rabbits tend to be less aggressive as the sex hormones are eliminated. Aggression and dominance do also have some behavioral component so the surgery alone does not necessarily mean that EVERY rabbit that gets it done will gentle down. Spaying is always a good idea as it will prevent accidental or unwanted litters. A spayed doe may also live a longer and healthier life. If Midnight is almost 10 years old though, age may be a factor in determining if she is a candidate for anesthesia. Discuss your concerns with your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating rabbits.

Thanks for reaching out about Bun Bun. This question has been addressed once before but there recommendation is to have Bun Bun spayed, and Fluffy neutered also (if not). Intact female spays have an increased incidence of uterine cancer but also tend to fight more. Talk to a veterinarian in your locale. Good luck.
