My rabbit has a pimple on its stomach. Is this a cause for concern?

Thanks for reaching out about your rabbit and including a photo. This appears to be a trichofolliculoma (ingrown hair cyst). A veterinary visit is needed to remove (surgically) but need to wait until much older. Monitor for now, do not apply anything topically. Good luck.

I would monitor the area and if the pimple does not go away or more lesions pop up it would be a good idea to have Frankie checked out by your veterinarian.

It is likely a solitary pustule or papule. These can be commonly seen in puppies because their immune system is still developing. If it is just 1 pimple, then I would not be too concerned and would just monitor for now. However, if this starts to spread, then its best to take Onex to your vet for medications to help resolve this bacterial infection or allergic skin disorder. Best wishes with Onex.

Hello, Thanks for the good picture. I agree that it does look like a solitary pimple, very well could be from an insect sting initially. I would just monitor this for now. If it spreads into many pimples, a larger sore, or an itchy rash, those would be reasons to have him seen by his veterinarian to ensure he doesn't have a skin infection that requires treatment. You can use a warm compress with saline or epsom salt water on the area for a few minutes twice per day. Otherwise, don't apply any ointments and just let it stay dry and open to air. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks like a focal infection. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!

It looks like a pimple, a minor skin infection. You can use a Benzoyl peroxide topical cream or an antiseptic cream in order to help it resolve quicker, but otherwise it should resolve itself without treatment.

It could be a small pustule, cyst, or mass. If it persists than you could have your vet take a look at it to determine the cause. Your vet can do a needle aspirate to help diagnose and then determine if treatment is needed.
