My 6-month-old puppy has a pimple-like bump. Should I worry?

If it looks like pimples it's probably it, You can use a Benzoyl peroxide topical cream or an antiseptic cream in order to help it resolve quicker, but otherwise it should resolve itself without treatment.

If there is just one area and it improves daily then it is unlikely to be problematic. However, if you are feeling multiple areas, if you see fleas or ticks, or if it is not resolving then I would become more concerned. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks like a focal infection. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!

I suspect that these are little bumps are due to a bacterial infection (pyoderma). Puppies commonly get this on their bellies and they usually go away with good cleaning. I recommend cleaning the belly with a medicated wipe or shampoo (can get this at the pet store) once a day until the bump(s) are gone. If it seems to get worse, then you'll want to take Mia into the vet for an exam. It is difficult to say for sure with just a picture but it looks like a pustule. This is common in puppies and is called puppy pyoderma. It will usually heal on its in it occasionally they will get more of them and will need oral antibiotics. Watch it closely and make sure it isn't getting bigger and make sure more aren't coming up. Also make sure she is eating, drinking and playing normally.

I can understand your concern for Kobe! Not to worry - this lesion looks most like a pustule (similar to a pimple). If Kobe has been itchy or has other similar lesions, although I don't see any others in the picture, this could be a skin infection (pyoderma). Otherwise, it may simply be a response to an injury either from biting or scratching at himself. I'm glad to hear that he's going to his vet tomorrow for further evaluation. Hello, Thanks for the good picture. I agree that it does look like a solitary pimple, very well could be from an insect sting initially. I would just monitor this for now. If it spreads into many pimples, a larger sore, or an itchy rash, those would be reasons to have him seen by his veterinarian to ensure he doesn't have a skin infection that requires treatment. You can use a warm compress with saline or epsom salt water on the area for a few minutes twice per day. Otherwise, don't apply any ointments and just let it stay dry and open to air.
