My rabbit fell and hurt its leg. Bleeding stopped, no vet. What now?

It would probably be a good idea to have him examined but allow him to calm down first. Hopefully, the blood is just a result of mild trauma. The veterinarian will be able to determine the need for further diagnostics based on exam.

If you see swelling, warmth to the touch, extreme redness, and pus, have him seen by a vet. Should it not get better or gets bigger, also have him seen by a vet. Keep the area clean and dry. Ouch, poor Bambi! Gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep your dog away from her, and have her rest quietly so the wound can heal. Monitor it, and if it becomes red, swollen, warm to the touch, or you see pus, then it's infected and she should see a vet right away for antibiotics. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately without a picture, I cannot tell you what the scratch is. Also, I am not sure what body part an "eat" is. In general, if the scratch is no longer bleeding, you can monitor it before taking Bun Bun into the veterinarian. You do need to monitor the area closely, however, for redness, swelling, discharge that is white, clear, or green in color, and pain. If any of these occur, a visit to your veterinarian is indicated as these can all be signs of infection. Infections often require treatment with antibiotics, and pain relieving medications. Please do not administer any antibiotics or pain medications that you have at home, as many of these can hurt rabbits due to their specialized gastrointestinal tracts (stomach and intestines). I am unable to tell you specifics on costs for a veterinary visit, but I would recommend that you call the veterinarian's office and you can ask for their office call fee to get an estimate. Thanks for reaching out about Poppy and including photos.. Yes, you should see a veterinarian as dislocations or fractures, will unlikely heal well on their own, and are definitely painful. The caging is inappropriate, as it is a bird cage. The bars are too far apart and limbs/feet can get caught. Good luck.

If it is just a superficial scratch and it appears that the bleeding already resolved, you may continue to monitor it. If at some point a discharge develops and it appears to be getting infected, have him examined then. You may clean the area with soapy water. However, if it seems deep, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It is hard to know for sure without being able to see it though I hope this is helpful. It sounds as if this bunny has a very serious injury and is in critical condition. I would recommend taking it to a veterinarian as soon as possible so it can get appropriate treatment. This does not sound like an injury you can treat at home. Even if you are not able to afford its care I’m sure any vet’s office would be willing to see if they can help it if you are willing to relinquish it. I hope this helps.
