Can you help me identify my new guinea pigs' gender from photos?

I adopted two guinea pigs today that were from an abusive home. I have changed their bedding and offered clean food, water, and hay. They act completely normal and are eating/drinking fine. I don't know their age but I'm trying to fingers out what gender they are. I took a picture today and was wondering if someone could help me figure out their gender.

Thanks for your question about your guinea pigs, and congratulations on getting new members to your family. The photos are mildly blurry, but both of the pigs look like females. One thing you can do to confirm - the lighter colored guinea pig photo is more clear and is a female. The darker one is a bit harder to tell - if you compare them and they look the same then they are both females. If you are unsure, you can also post additional photos.
I would recommend taking your new pets to the veterinarian for a wellness exam. They can provide you with husbandry and diet advice so that your new friends can stay happy and healthy.

I can't see based on the photos. I need to see lower down below the opening to the urethra. Sometimes though this is still difficult as the male guinea pigs can pull the testicles into the abdomen. Try holding Buddy up and taking another photo. You can likely also bring him into a pet store or a vet's office and they will likely be able to tell. I hope this helps and best of luck!

They are very cute! From the pictures, yes they do look healthy, but please keep in mind I can't say this for certain without seeing them in person. If you have concerns about their health, I recommend having them checked out by a vet. I hope this helps :-)

My two male guinea pigs are different sizes. Is this normal?

Congratulations on your new pets - Lenard and Sheldon are super cute (and those are great names!). From the picture, they both look to be about the same size, but you can weigh them to be sure. As long as they are both eating normally and defecating regularly, there is no reason to be concerned about their size difference. You can hold them on their backs and look at their genitals to make sure they are both boys, as females can be smaller than males. I hope this helps!

My guinea pig was with a male. Could she be pregnant after pet store error?

Unfortunately we cannot diagnose pregnancy without examining a pet in person. If they were always supervised together and you did not see any mating occur then not likely, but if they were unsupervised it is always a possibility. If you want to know for certain a visit to the vet is needed.

Well, the first thing you'll need to do is figure out whether or not this is a male or female. There are lots of images available on guinea pig sexing and guinea pig anatomy so that you will be able to figure this out most likely. In terms of the symptoms you've reported, I would have to see pictures and perform a physical exam to give you my take. It sounds like you could be right, but there are also many other reasons for both pain and swelling in the abdomen. I would recommend having you and your parents bring him to a veterinarian comfortable treating small mammals. Hope this makes sense.
