Why did my hamster screech loudly at night then seem fine?

I woke up to my hamster, Pippy, making a horrible sound. She let out a screach in the middle of the night, so I got up to check thinking she was somehow stuck somewhere. I lifted her house and she was sleeping, so I gently woke her up and she stopped imediatly and looked around compleatly fine then started snacking on some food. Was this a bad dream or is there a much deeper problem I need to adress? She is very healthy and Ive never had any problems with her like this before.

If you heard a sound in the middle of the night just a single time, and nothing else has ever happened before, I don't think there is anything to worry about just yet. If this happens again, you might want to consider setting up a camera or something while you are sleeping so you can review exactly what is happening. For now, I think you should operate under the assumption that either there was some dream activity, or Pippy maybe just bumped himself on something causing some discomfort. Hope this helps!

I have no idea why he would vocalize in that way unless he was scared or injured. Any place he could have gotten a leg stuck? He may not have an external injury but that incident could have scared him. As for dreaming, no one knows if they do but, to my knowledge, that has not been documented. Monitor appetite and water intake, but a veterinary visit is recommended. Hamsters ask slightly prone to heart disease also, which can cause respiratory problems. My hamster is on its back, screeching. Is it a seizure, then runs?

Poor Baby! If he was having a seizure, they can have a "post-ictal" phase where they are no longer convulsing but are still disoriented. If this is the first time he has ever had a seizure, I would recommend having a vet take a look at him to ensure there isn't a medical reason for why he could have started seizuring. Why is one of my female dwarf hamsters suddenly squeaking constantly?

This most likely is a behavioral characteristic. I would recommend separating the hamsters and seeing if this stops or changes the behavior. I would also make sure that all the hamsters are getting along and the one making the noise is not getting picked on. My dwarf hamster squeaks in her sleep. Is it a respiratory issue?

It would be hard to say without an exam, however respiratory issues usually result in symptoms such as raspy breathing, coughing, sneezing, wheezing and changes in behavior including loss of appetite, lethargy, etc. Squeaking on its own doesn't really indicate this, however if you are concerned, or Bolletje is showing symptoms listed above, a vet visit is best. Until you can get her to your vet, keeping her warm and eating and drinking may help, but if symptoms worsen, seeking care sooner is needed.

My hamster gets stiff and makes strange noises. Is he having seizures?

It sounds like Red may be having seizures. Make sure he is eating and drinking normally. If he continues to do this then I would recommend to contact your vet for an exam to ensure there is nothing wrong that could be causing the seizure like low glucose, an infection, diabetes, and more.
