Hamster has a scab on its back, no pain. Should I see a vet?

It could be Glacier injured himself in his cage. I would gently clean his wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. I don't think this looks too serious but it is difficult to tell much from the photos. When I zoom in they get really grainy. I would say you have two options right now. 1) just monitor this cut/scab and if it doesn't get much better (or it gets worse) after about 5-7 days then you need to get him to your vet for an exam. 2) Take him to your vet now for an exam so you can get him the appropriate treatment now. All I can really say without examining him myself is that you know him best. If you are worried you should take him in for an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

That looks like a wound of some type. Maybe from another hamster or a toy or bar in the cage? There could also be a small mass or cyst that's open. Keep that area clean and have a vet check that out in case he needs antibiotics.

Thanks for reaching out about Biddy. Is Biddy new? Could it have been a fight with another animal? Hair loss, swollen and scabbed sounds like a wound. This could be parasitic, bacterial, fungal, endocrine and more. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Do not apply anything topical such as Neosporin as some of these medications can be ingested and cause problems. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Jimin and including a photo. If it is just a scratch, should heal on its own but is a lesion due to itching, could progress. Causes of itching include mites, fungal or bacterial dermatitis. or other conditions. If continues, a veterinary visit is needed to assist with a diagnostic/treatment plan. Good luck.

With the swelling, I would be concerned that Midnight has an abscess. I think it would be a good idea to take her into the vet for antibiotics. This should make the infection clear up quickly. Otherwise it could take weeks to heal and it can rarely become chronic which means it does not heal. I hope this helps!
