My guinea pig's poop smells bad. Is it diarrhea or a health issue?

This can be caused by parasites, dietary indiscretion or poor diet. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites. Treat if indicated. Discontinue feeding any fruits or vegetables for now. Feed only timothy hay and a small amount of pellets daily. Once the stool is normal, you can gradually offer tiny bits of vegetables. Limit fruit though to prevent diarrhea or obesity.

Your photo is a little blurry but from what I can see here these appear to be normal guinea pig feces. If your guinea pig starts having loose stools, stools that are very hard or is producing less feces or eating less these would be causes for concern.

Metabolic problems such as liver or kidney disease, bladder stones, urinary tract infections, bacterial or parasitic enteritis, dental disease, just to name a few. This is a normal poop. Actually the round on should be a bit bigger and squishyer as it is from the caecum. Make sure your piggy drinks enough fresh water, and offer lots of greens and a bit of cucumber, This will help the digestion. One often does not see the round poop pellets, as guinea pigs tend to eat them in order to keep the bacteria in their gut healthy.

Poor Skyla! The fact that she is walking abnormally is cause for concern. This clinical sign is known as ataxia and may be associated with severe dehydration or very low blood sugar. Both of these can be caused by diarrhea, and require supportive care. I recommend having Skyla seen by a vet as soon as possible, as she may require supplemental fluids, additional antibiotics, or further diagnostics. This may be because of an inflammatory or infectious condition, among many other possibilities. For this reason, I recommend that you have Beaver evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible so that they can proceed with an exam, gathering more information and deciding what would be best for Beaver at this point. Hi there! Yes, you should definitely take Pepper into a your vet for an examination. I don't think it's an emergency but I would do it soon. Be sure that you take her to a vet that is used to treating guinea pigs. There are a many things that could be going on. Most common at her age would be a tooth issue causing her not to be able to chew her food appropriately or an intestinal impaction/constipation. Be sure you are feeding the correct type of hay and you are getting it from a good source. Poor quality hay can cause a lot of problems.
