My guinea pig isn't grooming, smells, and poops undigested hay. Vet?

Any eye problems should be examining by a veterinarian. You should not leave an eye problem untreated. Constipation can be caused by many things but usually it is due to a poor/incorrect diet. You need to make sure your husbandry is 100% correct. Your guinea pig's daily diet should contain hay, clean water and fresh greens. Pellets provide vegetable matter combined with vitamin C, but if your cavy eats too many in proportion to his regular diet he may get constipated. I suggest you feed him some low-sugar fruits (such as a piece of unpeeled apple or pear peel) and some leafy greens as they have a high water content. Putting a few drops of olive oil on a treat he enjoys can also help move things along. Finally, you should start him on a probiotic. Mushy stools is not a good sign in guinea pigs, it usually indicates a gastrointestinal condition and it needs to be treated ASAP so it doesn't get any worse. i would strongly recommend taking him to the vet a soon as you can in order to get treated.

Dental disease can also lead to tooth abscesses that can affect the ears as well, and could be why she isn't eating. You have every right to be concerned about Ferb, and I would recommend getting him in to see a veterinarian. Guinea pigs can be very subtle about showing that they don't feel well, and they can go downhill very quickly. Additionally, we worry about things going wrong in older animals, and Ferb is considered a geriatric/old guinea pig. You can find a veterinarian who is comfortable seeing exotic companion animals, such as guinea pigs, on the AEMV website. You can also call around to clinics to find recommendations as well. Based on your description, my recommendation is yes absolutely take him to the vet. Limping is a sign of pain, and if he's also looking weak, I'm concerned that he may have suffered a serious injury. His continuous pooping may also be a sign of extreme stress, again potentially related to trauma, injury, or illness. This combination of symptoms definitely worries me, and so it's best to have Cookie seen by a vet as soon as possible. They will do an exam and will likely want to take x-rays to look for evidence of injury or trauma. This may be a serious enough issue that I would recommend you have him seen today if possible. Guinea pigs should eat and poop continually, and this alone is concerning. Guinea pigs also often get respiratory infections and this could be the cause of her not eating. I recommend having her seen by a vet right away. If you got her from a pet store you might want to ask the pet store if the other guinea pigs have similar signs as this could help with a diagnosis. You should bring her to a vet right away though, as by the time guinea pigs show they are sick, they are very very sick.
