My guinea pig jumps really high to ledges. Is this safe and healthy?

I think what you are describing is “popcorning” which is a normal behavior guinea pigs do when they are excited. They will bounce or pop up and down quickly. It sounds like Hershey is just having fun and enjoying himself!

Monitor Popcorn closely over the next day or two for any signs of decreased activity, limping or swelling anywhere on his body, any reduction in appetite, drinking, urination or defecation. If you notice any of these signs, you should take Popcorn to the veterinarian immediately. If Popcorn is behaving normally then there should be no cause for concern.

It is hard to characterize this further without being able to see an episode or evaluate Russo. I recommend you consider recording one of these episodes and showing a video to us here or to your veterinarian to determined what seems likely. That would be next step. Is is possible that Jordan is just playing around in his cage with this behavior. However, I would recommend checking his skin very closely to make sure he does not have any types of skin mites or lice. If you see any scabs or abnormal regions on his skin I would recommend taking him to a vet to have it examined

Congratulations on your new pet! To help Chanel feel safe, you can move slowly around her. First just standing near her cage, then placing your hand in the cage without touching her, and then gently petting her before attempting to pick her up. Guinea pigs are curious and like to play with toys and burrow in tunnels. In order to be healthy, Chanel should have plenty of water and hay avaiyat all times. She should have a ration of pellets everyday and can have some green leafy veggies and fruits as an occasional treat. You should monitor her for signs of diarrhea, skin issues, loss of appetite and energy and have her seen by a vet if any of these occur.

If he is eating and walking normally right now, I would suggest that you monitor him closely for the new few hours. Sometimes after a fall or other trauma, they don't show any evidence of injury due to them being so afraid. But, over time, that can change and you may see him limp or his appetite or attitude become abnormal. If you see any changes, I would recommend taking him into a veterinarian immediately as he may have hurt himself when he fell. Please do not give your guinea pig any human medications, as many of these are harmful for our fuzzy friends.

George is very cute. If he is walking abnormal it is possible he had some type of trauma in her enclosure. I have seen guinea pigs hurt themselves on toys and different things in the cage. I would recommend taking him to a vet for a good physical exam. IT is important to make sure nothing is broken or infected which might cause this type of walking hope that helps
