My guinea pig chews plastic cage tunnels. Is this normal or safe?

That could potentially cause gastrointestinal obstructions and should be ideally avoided. Congratulations on your new pet! You need to consider that a guinea pig is a pref species so they are naturally timid and defensive. You can't train them that things are wrong in the same way as say a dog. With gentle and regular handling he should broke much more tame. Chewing is completely normal and i would provide plenty of natural chews and replace the water bowl with a ceramic one.

Depending on the size of the piece, it could cause an intestinal obstruction. If it was a small piece than it will probably pass through with no problems. Monitor for any abnormal signs and have a vet take a look at her if you notice anything concerning, like lethargy, decreased appetite, or gastrointestinal signs.

I think that it is valid that you have concerns about your guinea pigs. There are always risks of intestinal obstruction when animals eat their bedding, and if this started when you switched the bedding, I would recommend switching it back. Also, make sure they have plenty of fiber around, including lots of hay. If you would like to add something into the cage for them to chew on, cardboard boxes with no labels or tape work great! It may be stress or boredom. Hamsters need to chew to keep their teeth filed down. Provide a variety of chew toys and hides to keep her busy. A wheel is good for exercise as are tunnels that she can move through.

Chewing is a natural and essential behavior for rabbits to keep their constantly growing teeth worn down. Ensure he has permanent access to good quality fresh hay and also rabbit safe chewing blocks such as timber from apple trees or commercial chew toys etc, a feed ball which drops pellets as he rolls it can be very helpful. Ensure he hs daily exercise for mental and physical stimulation

This may be a normal behavior for Sky but I would recommend you find a safer chew toy for her. My biggest concern is that she would ingest a piece of the plastic which could cause GI distress and/or a blockage. If Sky starts chewing on other inappropriate items, is vomiting or having diarrhea, or goes off her food, I would recommend you take her in to your veterinarian to be examined. I hope this helps.
