What's wrong with my bunny: hyper, antisocial, and watery poop?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | 3 lbs

my pet bunny is really hyper at times and then suddenly gets anti-social and her waste is solid with not a specific shape and looks watery but not excessive what can i do in this case?:-(

Thank you for using PetCoach. She is adorable. The first thing to do is to make sure that Gorda's diet is approriate. Most pet rabbit do not need pelleted food or need very, very little. Hay and vegetables should make up the majority of her diet. She may be acting antisocial if she is not feeling well, or depending on her age it may be hormonal related. For pet rabbits I stronly recommend spaying for behavioural benefits as well as for her health. https://rabbit.org/faq-spaying-and-neutering/

However is she is having very loose stool or acting abnormally, I would recommend a visit to a veterinarian that treats rabbits asap. If rabbits develop GI disorders it becomes fatal very quickly.

Cecotropes are produced in the rabbit's cecum and are a normal part of digestion and elimination. They typically produce them at night, hence the name "night stool" and will eat them as part of the normal diet.
If the stool is excessively soft, submit a sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites. Feed mainly timothy hay or similar grasses. Lilly can eat as much hay as she wants. Limit pellets to about 1/8 cup daily and limit vegetables and any fruit until the stool is normal.

Discontinue the apples and blueberries until the stool firms up. She can have as much timothy hay, oat hay or similar grasses as she wants. Pellets should be limited to about 1/4 cup daily.
Make sure what you are seeing aren't "night stool" or cecotropes. These are normal in rabbits and they will ingest them as part of their normal diet. You can read more about cecotropes at the link below.

Cecotropes are normal, if she is eating a lot then she will also produce a lot of feces. i would recommend to buy a good quality pellets form a pet shop, continue with the hay of course and when she is over 4-5 months you can start introducing greens and veggies to her diet.

Rabbit watery poop and upset: When should I see a vet immediately?

Hello. There are just too many questions that need to be answered in order to offer any advice. The best thing is to have your bunny examined by a veterinarian who can check Laddu for intestinal parasites, discuss the diet you are feeding her & possibly start her on a Critical Care diet & possibly antibiotics. My rabbit has wet, frequent poop and pees a lot. What's wrong?

Rabbits have a very sensitive GI system. Some causes for loose/wet stools: * internal parasites (worms) * colitis * dietary indiscretion (ate a food she that was new to her) * stress Those are just a few reasons. My suggestion is to start her on a probiotic and if there is no change or the condition worsens then she will need to see a vet. Loss of appetite and lack of drinking can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Walter evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. Why is my female rabbit's urine muddy, losing weight, not eating?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I have noticed that you listed Ms. Bunny as unspayed. Unspayed female rabbits are at a very high risk of cancer of the uterus, so I would be very worried about that as a possibility for the weight loss. The muddy urine could also be due to high calcium in her diet leading to calcium build-up in the urine. This can cause rabbits to have sludgy urine. It is important to get this checked right away. Your vet will try to empty out the bladder, increase the fluid intake, and get a better diet that is lower in calcium. I would suggest having her seen by your vet and discuss her diet, get a urine sample, and check out her uterus. Best of luck with Ms. Bunny.

Why is my old rabbit's fur matted with poop and how to help?

Hi there, Sorry your bunny is having trouble. There are two main concerns that cause this. One is that an incorrect diet with too many carbs, treats, pellets and not enough hay, fiber, good veggies make for excess cecal pellets or loose stool. I suggest follow the www.rabbit.org guidelines. This is the House Rabbit Society, which is a good source of info. Parasites would be another possilbity and a fecal check is a good idea. Last, if your bunny has some arthritis with his age, he may be able to clean his self as well or get down to eat his cecal pellets (the soft night droppings) as well. I suggest a good exam by a vet to rule out arthritis and health problems and making sure diet is optimal.
