What should a healthy bearded dragon's gum color typically look like?

Based on the pictures you have provided, I would say that Nova's gums look more pale than I am comfortable with. This could be due to dehydration, hemorrhage, destruction of the red blood cells from an immune mediated process, an infection, cancer, etc. I would recommend having Nova evaluated by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would recommend having her blood tested to start to see if she is anemic and to see what other values may be abnormal. The sooner she is seen the better in case this is something severe that needs immediate treatment. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Some beardies have yellow gums and that is completely normal. You may read about potential liver disease or mouth rot being possible causes, but if he is behaving normally and eating well, there is no cause for concern.

White gums in any animal is concerning as it can be a sign of shock or anemia. Based on your attached photos, I would not be alarmed about the color of the gums. They are not pale, they are an adequate pink color. Unless you notice other changes such as weakness or lethargy or vomiting, then I would not worry and just monitor for further changes.

There has been a lot of selective breeding done in bearded dragons in recent years, and through this breeding, there have been a lot of color morphs/types produced. That may explain why your beardie has some different colors present on it. They are not different species, just different colors within the same species. Another reason for different looking colors can be difficulty shedding - this often looks like a dull colored layer on top of the normal skin. If this occurs, it means that there are husbandry deficits that need to be addressed. I would recommend considering a wellness visit for your dragon at some point in the future - at the vet visit, theyvwill collect a full history to evaluate your husbandry and diet, as well as a full physical exam. Then, depending on the findings, they may make recommendations for diagnostics, such as blood work to make sure his organs are working properly, or evaluation of the feces to look for parasites, which are common in reptiles. Thanks for reaching out about Terra. Reptiles can often use melanin pigments as a form of the immune system. A minor wound such as scratch could of being the original trauma, Terra's immune system moved melanin to the area as a way to fight an infection. If the lesion gets bigger, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.

Each cat and dog is different, some have pigment of varying degrees inside of their mouth and some have almost none. So, good observation. In cases where there is significant pigmentation of the mouth, other areas of the body can be used to assess how pink they are. The inside part of the eyelids is a good place to check that. This color change is usually due to stress but could be due to other things as well such as improper temperature, diet, etc. I strongly suggest you review all your husbandry to make sure you are doing everything correctly.
