Injured African dwarf frog not eating: How to find a vet and help?

Hello. I’m still thinking my African dwarf frogs back left foot may be broken or injured. I’ve been calling all day and can’t find any vets that will see him. I feel bad because I want to do everything I can to help him since I took on that responsibility when I got him. He hasn’t eaten for 2 days so I moved him to a small container so he doesn’t have to move as much until I can find a vet. Is there anything else I can do and how do I get him to eat? I’ve tried sinking pellets,flakes,bloodworms.

Ok, I just tried my own link from the answer I just left you and it is not working. Google arav.org which stands for Association of Amphibian and Reptile Veterinarians.
There is a link for "owners" along the top, with a drop down menu for "find a vet."

Check the temperature and water chemistry in the smaller container. Low temps or elevated ammonia or nitrite levels can affect appetite. Perform frequent partial water changes to maintain quality and add a small heater if necessary. You can try offering live food (blood worms, black worms or micro worms). The wiggling may stimulate the appetite.

It is difficult to determine a leg injury with these photos. Fractured legs rarely heal in a aquarium/terrarium environment due to the animals movements usually does not allow stabilization of the fracture site. Also, splinting the limbs is near impossible for the same reason. If you think this frog has a fracture, it probably needs to see a veterinarian, especially before it gets worse (such as an open fracture with bone exposed). I have amputated several frog/toad limbs in my day and most do well and have good quality of life, although tougher time catching prey. Might have to feed via forceps. Good luck.

Frog care: finding a vet, safe tank rocks, and normal leg spasms?

Thanks for your question - to find a veterinarian in your area, you can check the AAFV or ARAV websites. Additionally, UC Davis is a couple of hours from you, and they have a department at their veterinary school that will see both fish and frogs. For the rock size - you are correct - you want to have larger rocks so that your frog doesn’t accidentally ingest any of them. For your last question about the spasms - without further description I would be unable to determine if this was normal or not, but I would recommend ensuring that you have a complete and balanced diet for the species of frog that you have. Nutritional deficiencies can be very common in frogs, and can result in “spasms” in them. I hope that helps to answer your questions, and good luck!

My frog has a broken foot and lost toes. Can I give him antibiotics?

I am so sorry to hear that Frogs was injured, but I am happy that you have found a veterinarian in your area who can see him. If you are seeing a loss of the toes, I would also be concerned about infection. Alternatively, these toes may have fallen off due to a lack of blood supply, which can happen with broken bones as well. I would recommend taking Frogs back to your veterinarian, as they can evaluate him and then prescribe antibiotics if they feel that the area is infected. I hope that gives you a place to start, and I hope that Frogs has a quick recovery.

My toad's jaw is broken. What home care can I give this amphibian?

Unfortunately for this type of injury there is no home treatment you can do. Hopefully the jaw will just heal on it's own. You just need to make sure he is eating and if not, you may need to force feed some Critical Care diet like this one: ( https://emeraid.com/emeraid-carnivore/ ) Be sure his "normal" diet is 100% correct and that you are using supplements. I find it hard to believe a toad would break it's jaw with no trauma so I would be worried about a nutritional deficiency.

My African dwarf frog has a tumor. Should I take it to the vet?

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer and take any decision. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. How to help my African Clawed Frog: shedding, no appetite, lethargy?

Keep her in some clean water between 68 F and 77 F. Perform daily water changes using aged or conditioned water that is temperature matched to prevent further stress or shock. Clean water is the key to treating sick frogs. Aquarium salt is a great general tonic and can treat minor infection. Dissolve 1 tablespoon in 5 gallons of water and use that for water changes. You can add conditioners such as AmQuel and NovAqua as well as some StressCoat. She should begin to improve in a few days. Offer a few pellets daily, but remove them if she doesn't eat to prevent fouling the water.

My Pacman frog has deep, red leg cuts. Is this an emergency?
